About Us
GSSA is a registered Club established in 2020 with undergraduate and graduate student members from several different departments. The mission of the Club is to promote and expand interest in Surveying, GIS, Remote Sensing and Cloud Computing within the Technical University of Kenya community, and help members build a portfolio of geospatial skills and knowledge for their future careers.
The regular activities of the club include engaging with other networks for GIS data and mapping needs, conducting research activities with faculty, national GIS day events, organizing seminars and talks, organizing trainingings and mapping contests and outdoor fun activities. The Club aims to serve as a platform in TUK to grow a future generation of GIS professionals

Activities
Trainings
The club organizes regular trainings on Spatial skills such as mapping softwares, surveying techniques, remote sensing and GIS software engineering
Workshops
The club hosts workshops for discussions and engagement between members, guests and invited speakers on matters partaining spatial technology
Meetups
There are regular meetups bringing together different people with interest in Geospatial Science to talk, engange and share
Mapathons
The club coordinates Mapathons to help in disaster risk mapping, open street mapping as well as invitted to perticipate in mapathons by other organisations
Hackathons
The club hosts hackathons bring together GIS developers and programmers to collaborate in software projects, Machine learning and Artificial Intelligence in solving spatial problems
